Pour the red wine into a large pot and cook at low heat, adding a little at a time, sugar, cloves, cinnamon and chopped zest of 1 lemon thinly.
Bring to a boil for about 10 minutes, then remove from heat, strain and serve hot with 1/2 slice of lemon.
